Students' Linocut-in-a-Day Project

Extra blog post today just because the students & I were so excited about this at class last night.

It was only the 2nd day of class last night, and knowing the students had their supplies, didn't know much about the process, and likely were not feeling ready to start their projects. After some lecture & demos about relief printmaking, they were all given a 3x3" piece of linoleum to cut out however they want (with only a small "do not cut" area). The resulting image when they put them all together in the right order made a big snake (with 2013 being the year of the snake).

All of the students looked so excited when we printed their pieces together. It was was great!

Below are photos of all the linoleum pieces together, the resulting print, and all their initial test prints on the drying rack.
