Pastel Drawing In-Progress

My camera just ran out of batteries, so here's a terrible photograph of the first stage of this new pastel drawing.

Littlest Exchange Print - Final Third Layer

Littlest Exchange prints are finished! Now I just have to weed through them to select the best for the edition of 50.

Also, today is the last day of teaching my Intro Printmaking class - where did the time go?

Drawings In-Progress

Two new large drawings are in the works. Both have a thin acrylic wash under lots of charcoal.

Littlest Exchange Print - First Layer

Good thing I started with plenty extra for my edition of 50... I'm going to need them. I printed the first layer   of my "Littlest Exchange" print 99 times yesterday.

Littlest Exchange Print Update

I've settled on which 3 blocks I'm using and their orientation. And I've cut out many 3 x 3 inch pieces of paper. Now I just need to tweak the colors and I'm ready to print the edition.

Two New Small Drawings

I've done more test drawings, but the only ones I'm happy with are these two small-ish ones. Both began with a light acrylic wash of color and then I drew over them with charcoal. I feel like they're just about done now, but I might change my mind later. (Or do a bigger one like them!)

Littlest Exchange - Early Proofs

My class requested that I print my woodcuts for another example of small multi-block prints.... so I pulled a few (quickly & poorly done) proofs quickly from my wood blocks for my "Littlest" print.

Each color alone on newsprint...

And a few tests....

I think I like only two of the blocks printed the best. I need to do some more tweaking & decision-making.

Return to Woodcuts

After several posts of drawings I'm back to printmaking (for now)! This weekend I carved out four blocks for my tiny 3 x 3 inch print for "The Littlest Print Exchange". I'm not sure anymore if I will use all four of them... but I'll see once I pull some more proofs.

Watching Paint Dry

Today I started 5 small drawings by coating them with a wash of watered-down acrylic. Once they dry I will do some chalk pastel drawings on top of them.

Sketches

On the left were two of my sketches that I did before my 2 large drawings. On the right is my latest sketch in chalk pastels I did to test out some color combinations. I definitely won't be using the pink - it was worth a try, but just a little too pink for my taste.

Early Stage of Summer Drawing #2

I'm not doing very well at getting back to posting every other day. I suppose once a week will have to do for now until I get myself back to the usual pace.

I started a second drawing. I began with pastels and hated it, so instead I covered it with gesso and started over. Thanks to Damian I'm having fun experimenting with Cretacolor's chunky charcoal.
