Sneak Preview: Ribbon Blocks Printed

Tonight I printed the first layer of several small prints tonight with those 34 varied ribbon blocks. Unfortunately I forgot to take photos until they were all buried in the drying rack. My head's a bit foggy due to a cold, so I couldn't tell you how many I printed or much about them. I'll make better artistic judgments and write better descriptions once I'm feeling better in a later post.

Ribbon Blocks Cut

They're done! I finished my set of 34 ribbon-shaped blocks tonight. I will begin printing them as soon as I can commandeer the large press in the print room for a few hours.

Also, I should note that even my wood shavings  have taken on a spiraling ribbon look!

Yesterday I went to Chicago with some art friends to visit the Art Intstitute and had a fabulous time! But that being said, I didn't get any new work done and have nothing else to show you readers.

Large Ribbon Blocks

I know I've been posting about those ribbon blocks for a while now, but I've got 29 cut out so far & probably 5 more left so I'm finally nearing printing time! The last few blocks shown here are also the largest, so I'm quite excited to cut them out (and only slightly nervous about the fun challenges that'll come up in the printing process).

More Ribbon Blocks

I've been cutting many ribbon blocks... and I've still got 7 more large ones to go!

It's paper-writing season (and this is what happens to my kitchen table). Other than research and writing, I've been working on cutting out more of those ribbon-shaped blocks.

MEGA (Michigan Emerging Graduate Artists) exhibit's opening reception was tonight at Kendall's Gallery 114. The show was put together by Kendall's MFA club - with special thanks to great people like Taylor Greenfield & Alison Hurley! The exhibit was juried by Cara Brewer Thompson. One of my woodcuts from my series of November prints was accepted into the exhibit.

Dinderbeck First Annual Picnic

Saturday night was Dinderbeck Studio's First Annual Picnic exhibition. (No, there was no food. That was just the name.) I showed a print, but of course I forgot to take a photo so this post is a bit lacking today. (I'll try to add a photo to this post later.)

Jellyfish - Finished Edition

I finished printing the second and final layer on my jellyfish prints for the edition of 20 for the animal print exchange.

Jellyfish - White Layer

I started printing my edition of jellyfish yesterday for the animal print exchange. The first layer of ribbons is white ink on white paper... so I know it's quite hard to see, but there IS something printed on that stack of papers!

Spring Break?

Yes, it IS technically spring break time at school, but I'm not going to allow myself much of a break - I'm already back at school & prepping paper to print an edition! I realize this is the last time as a student that I'll have spring break, but I'm too much of a busy body to take an actual break.

I realized I hadn't written about this sooner, but I will be teaching Introduction to Printmaking this summer at Kendall as an adjunct instructor. I'm exceedingly excited about it, and can't wait to teach my own class!

Five Prints Displayed

Five of my prints that I finished last weekend are currently hanging in Kendall's main atrium! Usually large paintings are shown in the space, so it feels great to show my work in a space where nearly everyone who walks into Kendall will see it.
